SPR: Honey Mustard Chicken Strips

Welcome to my new series, “Simply Put Recipes.”

I am taking Ms. Blue Ribbon and my favorite recipes and posting them on here. You may ask, “what does this have to do with personal finance?” Well, a lot. When it comes to budgeting, eating out can be a big drain on your finances. We limit how much we spend eating out by cooking awesome foods at home.

I am calling it “Simply Put” since a lot of the recipes you find only have a ton of extra garbage before the recipe itself. This will be a clean post with limited comments from me.

Honey Mustard Chicken Strips

Servings 6


  • 5 lbs Bag of Chicken Tenders (can use chicken breasts cut into strips)
  • 2 cups-ish Panko Bread Crumbs


  • 1 cup Mayo
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Mustard (we use yellow)
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Paprika


  1. Add Mayo, Honey, Mustard, Garlic Powder, and Paprika to a bowl and whisk until smooth.


  1. Put chicken into a ziplock bag and pour just enough of the honey mustard to coat the chicken. (30 minutes or overnight)

  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and get out a baking sheet with tin foil and a wire rack on top.

  3. Pour bread crumbs into a bowl. Individually dip the chicken strips in the crumbs until covered and place on wire rack.

  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes

Optional Modifications:

  • Try using Italian seasoning bread crumbs for an interesting twist in flavor.
